Business engagement underway to resolve North Street water issue

JRA and Johannesburg Water confirmed that they are engaging with businesses in the area, after it was confirmed that the water seepage is from the valves located at one of the business properties.

Engagements with businesses near North Street in Melrose, are underway.


This comes after Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) confirmed, on May 21, that the persistent water present at the excavation on the road was being emitted by local businesses.

JRA’s acting head of regional operations Mpho Maruping said: “A joint site visit between JRA and Johannesburg Water, on May 12, indicated that water seepage is from the valves located at one of the business properties. Engagement with the business is underway to resolve the matter.”

Maruping added that, after the site is dry, JRA would resume the road surface repairs. An update on the estimated time of repairs will be communicated in due course.
