Johannesburg art comes alive at RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026

From seasoned to emerging artists, the RMB Latitudes Art Fair has once again transformed Johannesburg into a lively gathering point, filled with art, creativity, culture, and wonderful conversations.

Johannesburg’s creative sector stepped into the spotlight on May 22 as the RMB Latitudes Art Fair returned for its fourth edition, opening its doors to artists, guests, and collectors from across the country.

Hosted at Shepstone Gardens, the fair offered guests an impressive experience where art extended beyond gallery walls and into beautiful gardens, walkways, and hands-on exhibits.

This year’s edition brought together a diverse range of galleries and artists, showcasing contemporary African art through a mixture of paintings, sculptures, photography, and other forms of art.

This year’s theme: Oasis, the fair reflected on the improbability of creativity flourishing in unlikely places. Additionally, the fair featured a Nigerian focus section this year, bring attention to the unique Nigerian culture.

The fair’s atmosphere blended culture with lifestyle, attracting not only serious collectors and industry professionals, but also younger audiences, including school learners and university students eager to explore Johannesburg’s growing artistic space.

Beyond the exhibitions, the fair also created opportunities for networking among different individuals in the creative industry.
