Scan Display acknowledged for advancing the exhibition industry
The exhibition and display specialist, Scan Display in Parktown North received two prestigious accolades at the Exhibition and Event Association of Southern Africa’s (EXSA) annual awards function.
The organisation’s managing director Justin Hawes was inducted into the EXSA Hall of Fame, and marketing manager Pippa Naude received the Chairman’s Award.
The Hall of Fame inductees are chosen for their contribution to the professionalism and advancement of the industry.
Hawes has served on the EXSA Board for six years as chairperson and vice-chairperson. He implemented many new practices for the industry, including launching the annual EXSA conference, re-introducing the EXSA Stand Awards after a dormant spell, and using the Bizcommunity platform to promote exhibitions alongside other marketing mediums.
Hawes has also helped to put the South African exhibition industry on the world map. Through his involvement in the International Federation of Exhibition and Event Suppliers (IFES), he successfully campaigned to bring its annual conference to Cape Town in June this year.
Hawes said, “Being inducted into the Hall of Fame means a great deal to me. It has always been my aim not only to run Scan as a profitable business, but also as a vehicle to bring about positive change and growth in our industry.”
Naude was also honoured to receive the Chairman’s Award in recognition of her dedication to promoting sustainability in the industry through her work for the Event Greening Forum NPO (EGF).
She represented the EGF on the EXSA Board, and has been pushing the green agenda in a number of ways, including through the creation of the EXSA Green Awards which were launched in 2012.
Scan Display also received three awards for stands it had designed and built.
