Childline hosts Christmas party
PARKTOWN - Childline and Sunlight's Safe House Project in Parktown went out of their way to ensure that the children in their care experienced goodwill during the holiday season.
Childline offers a safe haven to a number of abused and abandoned children who are placed into care during times of crises.
Currently, 70 caregivers in communities around Gauteng provide a safe environment for 150 children.
Sponsored by Sunlight, Childline celebrated its annual Christmas party with fun and games for the children, as well as lunch and time out for
their caregivers. Children were able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas meal and entertainment, as well as a visit from Father Christmas.
Spokesperson for Sunlight, Bontle Modiselle, said the brand’s involvement with the Safe House Project is especially significant as
South Africans are faced with rising statistics of child abuse.
She added, “Sunlight traditionally embodies values such as warmth, caring, nurturing and providing quality for one’s family. These
values are in keeping with the Safe House Project’s aim to create an environment of trust and caring for children in crisis.”
Lynn Cawood, Gauteng director of Childline, said funding from Sunlight has allowed Childline to continue with special projects.
