A man stabs four-year-old girl

YEOVILLE - Police incarcerated a 27-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed a four year old girl.

According to police the incident took place at the corner of Kenmer and Yeo roads. Police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said it was alleged that the child was walking with her mother on the street when they met an unknown man who grabbed the child by the throat.

Malatji said, “He stabbed the child at the back of her ear with a knife. The mother screamed and the community alerted the police and they reacted quickly and

arrested the suspect.”

He added that police confiscated two knives from the suspect and the child was rushed to hospital. He said it was not known why the suspect attacked the child. “The police are trying to establish whether the suspect and the mother of the child knew each other or not. The investigation continues,” Malatji said.

The suspect was expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder and being in possession of dangerous weapons.
