Stolen car recovered

A swift move by the Bramley police led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Houghton Estate.

According to police, the complainant told them that he had parked his employer’s white Hyundai bakkie at Travena Centre at the corner of Louis Botha and Rauma avenues, Bramley.

Bramley police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the driver told the police that the doors and the windows were properly closed when he went inside a shop to buy tomatoes.

Maphakela said, “When he came back to where he parked the car, he found that the car was missing. He looked around and saw the car, worth

R90 000, making a U-turn… towards Louis Botha Avenue South.” He added that the car was fitted with an alarm system. Maphakela said the man went to the police station to report the stolen car and the report was circulated. He said, “While the complainant was making a docket he received a call informing him that the car was recovered by police at 16th Avenue, Houghton Estate.”

He added that two suspects were arrested.

“The two suspects aged 29 and 31 appeared at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court but their case was postponed and they were remanded in custody for bail applications,” said Maphakela.
