Police seek hijack suspects

CRAIGHALL – Parkview Police are investing a hijack incident which took place along Jan Smuts Avenue in Craighall on 20 May.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said a man had just parked his brand new Isuzu bakkie outside a car dealership.

“He was approached by a male suspect who pointed a firearm at him, ordering him to get out of the vehicle,” said Ramovha.

The suspect then allegedly grabbed the car keys and pushed the owner away from his vehicle.

“He then got into the vehicle and was joined by his accomplice,” said Ramovha, “The two suspects drove away with the stolen vehicle.”

Ramovha said the vehicle owner, with the help of onlookers tried to chase the vehicle but they lost it along William Nichol Avenue.”

The vehicle did not have number plates as it was still new and is valued at about R300 000.
