Armed robbers go on a rampage making off with R600 000 worth of valuables

EMMARENTIA – Parkview police are searching for four suspects who robbed a family at gun point in Emmarentia.

The homeowner of an Emmarentia home and her domestic worker were taken by surprise when four armed men entered the Tugela Road property.

Police said the homeowner had just returned from a doctor’s appointment when her domestic worker asked whether she had let someone onto the property when driving in.

“Before she could reply she heard the dogs barking, followed by footsteps and voices,” said Parkview police spokesperson Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha.

“The suspects then asked them [woman, maid and children] to co-operate to avoid being harmed,” said Ramovha. The suspects put them in one room before ransacking the home and taking several valuable items, including Kruger Rand coins.

On their way out the suspects took the woman’s car keys and drove away with it [Toyota FJ Cruise],” said Ramovha. The value of the stolen items is about R600 000.

The suspects are believed to have also hijacked a Renault Scenic within the vicinity, after the stolen Toyota was allegedly involved in an accident.

In this incident, Ramovha said the victim was in the driveway of her home waiting for the gate to close when she was approached by four armed men. They allegedly pulled her out of the car before driving away in it.

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have information that could lead to an arrest to come forward.
