Choc-a-block Mandela Day
JOBURG - Mandela Day, to take place on 18 July, is all about making a difference in the lives of those who can't do it all by themselves.
This year, childhood cancer foundation Choc has a range of activities that you as an individual or as a team can participate in.
Choc spokesperson Sophie Ndhlovu said that teams could sell Choc items at work for 67 minutes.
“Who can sell the most debit order agreements for Choc in 67 minutes?” she asked.
“You could [also] help us to raise items on our wish list by calling your friends, family or business partners – let’s see how much can be raised within 67 minutes.”
Another option is to support the Choc Charity Shop with 67 bags of unwanted used goods that could still be useful to others, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac, kitchen goods, and toys.
The foundation will also offer opportunities for limited groups to do some good at local hospitals and Choc houses.
Among the activities arranged for Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Choc House Saxonwold and Choc House Diepkloof are art and baking, spoiling the medical staff, soup for those in waiting rooms, cleaning wards, bringing gifts to children, or bringing books and magazines for the waiting rooms.
