Police searching for shooters

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a man was shot twice in Joubert Park.

Hillbrow police spokesperson, Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said the victim had parked his vehicle and was walking along Banket Street when a Corsa bakkie stopped next to him. “One person got out, approached the victim and fired shots at him,” he said.

A scuffle ensued as the victim tried to disarm the suspect. Another suspect then climbed out of the bakkie and more shots were fired at the victim. The suspects fled the scene and the victim was transported to hospital.

Police recovered a firearm on the scene with live ammunition. The serial number had been filed off and therefore could not be traced to previous incidents. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and the side of the upper body.
