Coke dealer bust with help of community
Yeoville police hailed community members for their assistance which led to the arrest of a drug dealer in the area.
According to police, they received a tip-off from a member of the public. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said, “The police received information about drug dealing that was taking place in Yeoville at the corner of Francis Street and Grafton Road.”
Malatji said on arrival at the address, police found a man packing cocaine into plastic bags with a street value of R50 000.
The 37-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and detained at Yeoville Police Station. The suspect was expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
Malatji urged the public to work closely with police to curb crime in the area. He stated that community partnership was key in fighting crime and there was a need for members of the public to constantly inform the police about criminal activities that were taking place in their streets.
“We urge members of the public to help us in our fight against crime, we really appreciate what they have done in helping us nail the drug dealer,” he said.
