Vote for your fave band to open Vodacom In The City festival
Vodacom Open The City band finalists Bye Beneco, The Plastics, The Kiffness and PHFAT took to the stage to sing for their votes in electric and powerful gigs.
The winner will land a spot at the Vodacom In The City music festival on 3 October. In what is shaping up to be very tight race, the public’s votes will determine which band opens for Rudimental, MGMT, Crystal Fighters and The Presets on the day.
Jozi music fans have only a few days left to cast their votes for their favourite local band in this hotly-contested competition.
The Open The City Session was a taste of the awesome vibe, the incredible sound and the coolest crowd expected at the much-anticipated main event, and gave fans a chance to get up close and loud with their favourite musicians.
Fans of the bands running in the competition turned out in their hundreds at Newtown’s Town Hall to show their support, starting with Bye Beneco playing their quirky and mesmerizing sounds.
The Plastics followed with a cover of MGMT’s Kids. Next up The Kiffness wearing matching red onesies performed to a screaming crowd. The PHFAT duo shook the house with their distinct electronic rap sound that kept the gig going until well into the night.
Voting closes at midnight on 12 September and the band that receives the most votes will be announced on 17 September.
