Heavyweight line-up for arts-business symposium
JOBURG - Two exciting guest speakers will feature at BASA's (Business and Arts South Africa) second Arts in Business Symposium.
British author, actor and teacher, Richard Hahlo, and Hollard’s chief marketing officer, Heidi Brauer, will shed light on the arts-business partnerships at the symposium to take place at the Gordon Institute of Business Science later this month.
“[This year’s symposium follows last year’s inaugural event], which saw a sold-out audience of business representatives listen to internationally renowned arts and business expert, Giovanni Schiuma, along with Nando’s founder, Robbie Brozin, and founder and managing director of Matchboxology, Paris Pitsillides,” said spokesperson Bronwyn Coppola.
Hahlo is the co-founder of United Kingdom-based Dramatic Resources, a global pioneer in the application of theatre and performance skills in business.
He was an Education and Training Associate at the UK’s National Theatre for almost 25 years, and is also the co-founder of Dramatic Events: How to Run a Workshop for Theatre, Education or Business.
“Hahlo [will present] Winning Hearts and Minds, an interactive seminar that aims to demonstrate the value of using the arts in business to help bring about culture change,” said Coppola.
Brauer worked closely with BASA on the 17th annual Business Day BASA Awards, partnered with Hollard.
She will give her unique insights into business and arts partnership in the South African context, including a case study of how the insurance group uses the arts in diverse ways in its business.
Additional speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
The symposium will take place on 21 October at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, 26 Melville Road, Illovo, at 7.30am.
