Cocaine suspect busted in Yeoville

YEOVILLE – Yeoville police stop-and-search routine patrol yielded positive results as the police managed to arrest a suspect who was allegedly in possession of drugs worth R2 000.

According to police, the incident took place at the corner of Rocky and Bezuidenhout streets in Yeoville. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said, “The police were conducting stop-and-search routine patrol when they (police) spotted a man standing at the street corners and decided to approach and search him.”

Malatji stated the man cooperated with the police and allowed the police to search him. He said, “When police searched him they found cocaine in his possession with a street value of R2 000.”

Malatji said the 32-year-old suspect was arrested and later detained in Yeoville police station. He is expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
