See Hugh Masekela in concert

JOBURG - The SA State Theatre in association with the City of Tshwane is proud to announce Hugh Masekela in Concert.

Hugh Masekela, the two-time Grammy-nominated musician, recently performed at a festival named after him and is soon to be performing at the State Theatre.

The Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival presented by Assupol, an authorised financial service provider, in the heart of Soweto, aims to become an annual event moving forward, to celebrate Heritage month and to honour the people of Soweto.

Together with Vusi Mahlasela, Masekela headlined the first concert in Carnegie Hall under Music and Arts of South Africa. The concert was entitled Twenty Years of Freedom, a celebration and commemoration of 20 years of constitutional government following the downfall of the apartheid regime in 1994.

In July, he was among 16 people awarded with honourary degrees by the University of New York. Every year, the university confers honorary degrees to people who have made a significant contribution to society.

Hugh Masekela in Concert will be held at The State Theatre’s Opera Theatre on 19 December from 8pm. Tickets are available at Computicket starting from R80.
