Mr Price robbed, one suspect nabbed

HILLBROW – ABOUT five suspects stormed into a Mr Price clothing store and robbed the shop of an undisclosed amount of cash – but police managed to arrest one of them.

The incident took place on the corner of Claim and Kotze streets in the precinct. According to police, five men arrived at the shop and one of them pointed a firearm at the security guard who was standing at the entrance and pushed the security inside.

Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said the other suspects went to the till staff and demanded cash.

Zondo said, “The suspects looted money which was in the tills, and fled the scene. The police were called and responded immediately. Police managed to trace and arrest one of the suspects within the vicinity of the incident.” Zondo said police were following all leads. He added that the 24-year old suspect was due to appear in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of armed robbery.

Zondo also appealed to the public to assist police with any information that may lead to the arrest of the other suspects.
