Girl, 9, ‘raped’ by boy, 12

ORANGE GROVE - A LITTLE girl of nine was left worried about being pregnant after an alleged 'dry-hump' rape by her 12-year-old neighbour.

According to police, the matter was reported to them by the parents of the girl and the mother of the boy after they were referred to police by a district surgeon.

Norwood police spokesperson Sergeant Nurse Sanyane said when the parents found out about the alleged incident they went to the district surgeon but were told that they needed to bring a case number to have the child examined, and they had to report the case to the police.

Sanyane said the alleged incident was exposed when the girl sent a letter to the alleged perpetrator via his friend which stated, “Since you had raped me some few days ago, you must know that I am pregnant.”

Sanyane said, “Unfortunately for the girl, the letter didn’t reach the intended receiver but the mother of the messenger who saw it in her son’s schoolbag and took it to the mother of the girl.”

She said the girl’s mother confronted her but she denied everything. But when her father came home from work she told him she had been raped by the neighbour’s son.

The girl told her parents that she had been playing ball at home and the ball landed in their neighbour’s yard. She went to fetch it and the boy opened the gate for her.

Sanyane said, “The girl went inside and the boy allegedly called his three friends who were playing with him.

“They allegedly held her down, two holding her arms while one was holding her legs, and the alleged perpetrator performed sexual acts on top of her, but the girl stated that both were fully dressed.”

Sanyane said the boy had denied it, and the girl could not remember the date or day of the alleged incident. She added that the case was since transferred to Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
