Inyoni Creek residents explore Antarctica

LYNDHURST - Residents of Inyoni Creek explored the last great wilderness with Neil Garden.

The audience experienced the icy extremes of Antarctica during a presentation by fellow resident Neil Garden. on 4 December. Garden spoke about a recent visit to Antarctica, the world’s coldest, driest and windiest continent. Over 11 times bigger than South Africa, Antarctica is considered a desert, despite its vast ice reserves, and averages on 200mm annual precipitation. With temperatures that have been recorded as low as 89 degrees centigrade below zero, it is not surprising that the vast and freezing continent has no permanent residents.

Following a slide show and presentation, residents warmed up with the year’s final tea morning, and were spoilt for choice at a buffet table groaning with goodies.
