Be conscious of hijackings to combat criminals
JOBURG- Les McMaster, Chairman of Motor Industry Workshop Association urged residents to be vigilant to prevent being hijacked.

“Your best defence against a hijacking is being alert and aware of your surroundings while driving,” he said.
He suggests that residents’ driveways should be kept clear of shrubbery where potential hijackers could hide.
“If you spot any suspicious pedestrians close to your driveway, drive past and rather circle back,” he said.
McMaster added that if approached by a stranger while in your vehicle, drive off if possible or use your hooter to attract attention.
Be constantly on the lookout for suspicious characters or vehicles and do not hesitate to report them to the police, he said.
If you suspect you are being followed, drive to the nearest police station or any busy public area.
