Men robbed while waiting for transport

ROSEBANK- On 21 January at around 8.05pm, two males were robbed while waiting for public transport to Alexandra along Oxford Road, Rosebank.

According to Warrant Officer Moses Mphakela, a cream-white Mercedes Benz Sedan with the registration number CWD 497 GP, offered the two males a lift to Alexandra.

Along the way, the car stopped for another male also requesting a lift.

The car drove down Colette Drive, turning left into Irene Road in Ilovo and joined Fort Street.

“The car stopped suddenly and the suspect seated on the passenger side took out a knife and told us to keep quiet, as they were working,” said the victims.

The suspects were sprayed with pepper spray before they were let out by the driver of the vehicle.

The victims were robbed of valuables to the total of R9 600. A case of robbery with a weapon was opened at the Bramley Police Station.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela urged the public to not accept lifts from strangers.

Maphakela also urged the public to please contact the police if they saw any suspicious cars or knew any information.
