VIDEO: Scooter catches fire in Craighall Park
CRAIGHALL PARK - A scooter caught fire on Buckingham Avenue in Craighall Park on 26 January.
The incident occurred at about 7pm, when the driver, Jean Buchanan, was making her way home down Buckingham Avenue. She felt heat resonating up her back and got off the scooter as the fire became progressively bigger.
“It was a Bigboy Revival named Ms. Daisy and I’ve had it for two years; it was a gift from a friend,” said Buchanan. She explained that everyone on scene was extremely helpful. A neighbour and a passing motorist initially tried to put out the flames and were later assisted by patrol officers from security company CSS Tactical.
Though the exact reason for the fire is still unknown, Buchanan speculated that it may have been an electrical short circuit. “The scooter was [ablaze] for about 25 minutes. A fire truck arrived after the flames were put out and they helped with clearing the burnt rubber and hosing down the road,” she said.
CSS Tactical confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
A bystander on the scene recorded the fire being extinguished.
