Kes rowers take the gold

JOBURG - King Edward VII School (Kes) U16 rowers took gold at the Saint Benedict’s College Regatta on 26 September.

This after the school’s first four oarsmen earned gold medals on 19 September at St Andrew’s Ergo Regatta.

Lisa Slooten, director of communications of Kes said, “Congratulations to the boys for their great effort. Rowing is a sport that requires dedication and gruellingly hard work. Keep it up.”

Earlier this year, Kes pupil Thabelo Masutha, was selected to join the South African Schools Rowing Squad. According to Slooten, Masutha has a special aptitude for rowing and is affectionately referred to as a gentle giant by his peers.

Masutha also competed and won the U18 single sculls category at the National Championships at Roodeplaat recently.
