By-election for Ward 73 registration open soon

JOBURG - The Independent Electoral Committee has called for a Ward 73 by-election to be held on 11 November, following the resignation of Marcelle Ravid.

Mia Snyman has been nominated as the Democratic Alliance’s candidate. Snyman is young and energetic and is a qualified journalist. She has her BA Honours degree in Political Science.

Ravid said, “She will be an excellent councillor.”Registration for voting will open on 3 and 4 October from 8 am to 6 pm.

Registration is open for all new residents in the area. Anyone who is 18 and older can register with a bar-coded ID or smart card in their ward at the nearest polling station to vote in national and local elections.

The polling stations in Ward 73 are:

  • Norwood Primary School
  • Houghton Primary School
  • Killarney Country Club
  • Paterson Park Bowling Club

If you voted at any of the above locations in the last national elections then you are advised to go back there to vote where you are already a registered voter.

If you have recently moved into the ward or any of your family have just turned 18, or for any other reason you have never registered, this is your chance to register to vote.

Please log all complaints at the call centre and liase directly with the departments with the reference number.
