Parktown Boys High suspend all sporting activities against KES
JOBURG - Parktown Boys High School takes the decision to suspend all sporting activities against KES.
Relations between two of the biggest sporting schools in Johannesburg, King Edward VII (KES) and Parktown Boys High School, are tense due to a clash over poached rugby players.
This after two Parktown rugby players were allegedly poached by KES during the school holidays. The players have been on full sports scholarships at Parktown Boys since Grade 8.
Parktown Boys headmaster, Derek Bradley, said a decision to suspend all sporting activities against KES was taken in consultation with the school’s executive.
“This issue is bigger than the two schools involved. We, as a school, believe that the time has come to make a stand against the continued procurement of players between the boys’ schools, either by direct approaches from schools or through the use of agents,” said Bradley in a statement.
When approached, KES declined to comment on the matter and said they were still in communication with Parktown Boys to resolve the unfortunate situation.
