Joburg Ballet in search of a CEO
JOBURG - Joburg Ballet, currently headed by acting chairperson James Campbell, is now accepting applications for a new chief executive officer.

The company is located at the Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein and was previously headed by Dirk Badenhorst.
Badenhorst became CEO of the company when it was still known as Pact Ballet in 2002, but became the focus of a money transfer scandal in late 2014.
The company opened a number of cases, internally and in civil court, against the former CEO regarding the alleged unlawful transfer of money, poor governance, financial mismanagement and poor general oversight of the company.
Speaking on the resignation of Badenhorst in November last year, Campbell said, “We will be appointing a new CEO, but it is a long process.”
The company has specified that the new person to be appointed must have an appreciation and knowledge of ballet, specifically, and a passion for the arts in general, the ability to operate at executive director level, knowledge of current corporate governance requirements, strong relevant networks and interpersonal skills, as well as a track record of business development, partnership and growth, including fundraising.
“[We want] someone who can lead the company, strategise, follow through on those strategies and raise funds for the company,” said Campbell.
