Rosebank Library needs your help
ROSEBANK – Rosebank Library is calling for book donations.
Friends of Rosebank Library is appealing to the public for donations of books for their monthly book sale which is held on the last Thursday of each month.
Books can be dropped off at the library, 8 Keyes Avenue, Rosebank, during library hours.
Judy Stockill, chairperson of the library group said funds from their book sales augment the City’s budget for new books. “The Friends buy newly published books which are donated to the library,” said Stockill.
“The librarian has first option on the books that are donated. Suitable books are taken into library stock for the use and enjoyment of the borrowers at our library and other libraries. The remaining books are offered for sale and the proceeds buy new books.”
Stockill also highlighted that Friends of the Library needed new members to assist with the book sales. The sale will be on 31 March from 9am to 4pm.
On 7 April at 2.30pm, readers and members of Friends of Rosebank Library will review new books. Stockill said there was no charge to attend and everyone was welcome.
At this meeting, renowned literary scholar and writer Abdul Bemath will be the guest speaker. “He will talk about the prolific Kenyan writer, Prof. Ali A Mazrui, and his works. Abdul Bemath is about to publish a new collection of the works of this great African thinker,” concluded Stockill.
