Parkview police, with the assistance from 24/7 security company, recently arrested a house robbery suspect in Westcliff.
“We believe that this suspect has been involved in other house robberies in the Westcliff area,” explained Sergeant Iris Phoko of Parkview Police Station.
According to Phoko, the suspect appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on 21 April, however, the case was postponed as investigations are still underway.
She added that the suspect has been charged with trespassing, malicious damage to property and possession of housebreaking implements.
“We would like to acknowledge the hard work of Constable Peter Rakumaku and Constable Lufuno Edward Lishivha who had made the arrest,” Phoko said.
She, however, advised the community to remain vigilant at all times and make sure their alarms are on at all times.
“Please, please make sure that even when you are driving just to the store, your alarm is on. Be cautious when driving out your home and make sure the gate is closed properly.”
Another aspect she stressed was the importance of being cautious when driving home and taking notice of unknown and suspicious vehicles in the vicinity. “If you notice anything [suspicious], alert your security provider immediately or ask them to escort you to your home,’ concluded Phoko.
