The jubilee art auction

PARKVIEW – Pupils work together creating art pieces for a jubilee auction.

Japari School commemorated its jubilee with an art auction held at the Sonia Machancik Hall.

According to Brenda Manley, art teacher at the school, the event was a huge success and the quality of work presented was superb.

Pupils teamed up and produced pieces inspired by work from well-known artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Gustaf Klimt, Gerard Sekoto, Diego Rivera and Picasso. Colourful tapestries and baked tiles were also part of the work auctioned. Proud parents were able to view the art before the auction and refer to the accompanying catalogue.

Neil Wheeler, a professional auctioneer auctioned all pieces to enthusiastic bidders and all 33 pieces found owners by the end of the night. Manley gave a brief overview of the background of each of the pieces and listed the contributing artists.
