WATCH: Waverly Girls High pupils fear their principal
WAVERLY - Waverly Girls High pupils accuse principal of being violent.

The pupils of Waverly Girls’ High School have expressed concern over their well-being after claims about physical attacks some have allegedly experienced by the school’s principal over the past few months.
One Grade 8 pupil, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the principal is very rarely visible on school grounds and isn’t usually seen from Monday to Friday.
The pupil added that the principal was last seen at an awards ceremony held at the school where he allegedly attacked another pupil. She claimed, “I think it’s wrong that he is so physical. He accused pupils of bunking class and punishes them.”
Another pupil said that another method of disciplining involves allegedly locking them in a room near the school’s netball court and leaving them there until 3.30pm.
The pupils recently marched through the school to express their feelings about the principal’s conduct.
Media specialist for the Gauteng Department of Education, Thobeka Magcai said that the department was aware of the incidents that have allegedly occurred in the past and are currently attempting to manage the situation at the school.
Macgai added that the department will provide additional comment, however, by the time of publication, nothing had been received.
