33 suspects nabbed

YEOVILLE – Police arrested 33 suspects in connection with various crimes.

Yeoville police arrested 33 suspects in the period 13 to 21 November.

The suspects were arrested for committing crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder and armed robbery to rape.

The suspects were arrested for the following:

  • 1 for robbery at a business
  • 4 for robbery
  • 5 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 7 for common assault
  • 1 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 3 for possession of drugs
  • 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • 1 for possession of housebreaking implements
  • 2 for shoplifting
  • 1 for reckless and negligent driving
  • 3 for unlawful possession of a firearm and attempted hijacking
  • 2 for dealing in liquor without a licence
  • 1 for fraud and forgery
  • 1 for malicious damage to property.

“The suspects have appeared in court,” said Yeoville police spokesperson captain Sifiso Mabizela.

“Some have paid their fines, others are out on bail and others remain in prison while police investigations are continuing.”
