Four suspects were arrested by Parkview police for possession of stolen property on 9 December in Tembisa.
The Rosebank Killarney Gazette published the article, Family traumatised after robbery, Week ending 16 December, detailing a robbery that took place on Mazoe Road in Emmarentia on 2 December. According to police, the four suspects in custody were found with some of the stolen property.
Parkview police spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said on the day of the robbery, at around 11am, the homeowner returned to his residence to find two armed males in his lounge. He was taken to his bedroom and tied up with a rope.
The suspects further demanded cash and the safe keys and while they ransacked the home, the complainant’s wife returned home with their children. Upon searching the couples’ son, the suspects were able to find the safe keys.
“They [suspects] took all the contents that were in the safe, plus four plasma television sets, a silver BMW and a silver Voyager,” explained Sibeko. The value of the stolen items was estimated to be R1 million.
Sibeko said the complainant alleged that the suspects were able to gain entry into the residence with assistance from the family’s domestic workers, as they were seen fleeing the scene with the unknown suspects.
She added that police had been hard on the suspect’s trail until 9 December when all four suspects were apprehended.
“Parkview police’s Sergeant Nzama, Constable Maela and Constable Makhudu together with the Cortac Security officers worked on the case,” explained Sibeko.
The four suspects, including the two domestic workers, were arrested in Tembisa. Items that were discovered included a plasma television, a suitcase with clothes, jewellery and the silver Voyager.

All four suspects appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of house robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.
“Well done to police members and Cortac Security company for working together as we continue with disruptive operations to fight crime together,” concluded Sibeko.

A family residing on Mazoe Road in Emmarentia has been left traumatised following a house robbery which took place on 2 December.

“The suspects took the complainant to the bedroom and he was tied up with a rope. They demanded cash and the keys for the safe, and the complainant informed them that he did not have the safe keys with him,” said Sibeko.
While the suspects were busy ransacking the home, the complainant’s wife arrived with the couple’s children and they were also tied up. The suspects then searched his son and they were able to find the safe keys.
“They took all the contents that were in the safe plus four plasma TVs, a silver BMW and a silver Voyager,” she explained.
“The value of the stolen items is estimated to be at R1 million.”

It is alleged that the suspects were able to gain entry into the residence with assistance from the family’s domestic workers, as they were seen fleeing the scene with the unknown suspects. Upon searching their [domestic workers] rooms, the homeowners discovered that the rooms had been emptied. All their personal belongings including clothes and identification documents had also been removed.
“Parkview police would like to encourage residents to bring their domestic workers identification documents or passports to the police station for verification. We would like to appeal to anyone with information concerning the robbery to call Parkview police.”
