Newborn found alive in a bag in Waverly

WAVERLY– Young baby abandoned by mother on Murray street.

Norwood police officers found a newborn baby, alive in a pink bag along Murray Street in Waverly on 6 December.

According to Norwood Police Station spokesperson, Captain Elliot Tshivhase, the whereabouts of the mother is unknown at this stage.

“The Netcare ambulance was called and when the ambulance arrived, one of the Netcare staff members checked the baby and declared that the baby is an African male baby.”

Tshivhase added that the baby was taken to Edenvale Hospital for medical treatment and the case is still under investigation.
