Four busted for drugs worth R50 million in Silverton, Pretoria

PARKTOWN – Three men and a woman were arrested at the residence for manufacturing performance enhancement substances illegally.

 

The Hawks, based in Parktown, conducted an operation in Silverton, Pretoria where they arrested four suspects for illegally manufacturing Schedule 6 medicine with an estimated value of R50 million.

According to Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu, spokesperson for the Hawks, police received a tip-off about illegal activities at an address in Domkrag Street in Silverton.

Three men and a woman were arrested at the residence for manufacturing performance enhancement substances illegally. Steroids, tablets, liquids and tablet manufacturing machinery were seized at the premises.

The suspects, aged between 31 and 46, have been charged in terms of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act, and Medicine Control Act (illegal manufacturing of drugs). They were remanded in custody at the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court and the case was postponed for formal bail applications and verification of addresses.
