Norwood police make nyaope arrest in Houghton

Norwood police arrested a suspect in Houghton on 8 March for the possession of illegal substances including nyaope.

Spokesperson for the Norwood Police Station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase said the arrest was made on the corner of Glenhove Drive and Central Street when patrolling officers spotted two suspicious looking men sitting under a tree.

“They approached them and asked to search them. They found a black plastic bag in the pocket of one of the men. Upon opening the bag they discovered dagga and other substances,” said Tshivhase.

The 23-year-old suspect was arrested and detained at the Norwood Police Station.
