Constable Thomas Makwala of Parkview Police Station was conducting his regular patrols on 2 January on the corner of 10th Street and 4th Avenue in Parkhurst when he noticed a suspicious-looking man.
Makwala then conducted a stop-and-search and the man was found in possession of an electric drill and spark plug. According to Parkview Police Station’s spokesperson, Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, when the man was asked where he got the goods from, he failed to provide an answer to the police.

Makwala arrested the suspect for possession of suspected stolen property.
A case docket was opened at the station and the case was allocated to Detective Sergeant Roy Davids for further investigation. Davids then conducted an intensive investigation and managed to secure a conviction, as the accused was found guilty of possession of stolen property.
The accused was sentenced to 18 months in prison with the option of paying a R5 000 fine.
