Norwood police arrested a total of 25 suspects for committing various crimes ranging from dealing in liquor to possession of dagga and other heinous offences.
The arrests were made between 23 and 28 April in various locations within their areas of service, according to police spokesperson, Elliot Tshivhase.
The suspects were arrested for the following crimes:
- 1 for reckless and negligent driving
- 1 for rape
- 1 for intimidation
- 3 illegal immigrants
- 2 for shoplifting
- 2 for theft
- 3 for common assault
- 1 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 2 for stolen property
- 1 for using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent
- 2 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and robbery
- 2 for possession of dangerous weapons
- 1 for possession of a stolen motor vehicle
- 1 for dealing in liquor
- 1 for pointing a firearm
- 1 for a warrant of arrest.
Tshivhase said all suspects appeared in court while others have paid bail.
“Police will continue arresting those caught on the wrong side of the law and investigation of those arrested is still continuing,” he said.
