Join the Walk for Hospice Wits teams in the 702 Walk the Talk

HOUGHTON – Hospice Wits appeals for people to Walk for Hospice Wits in order to raise money for the non-profit organisation.

 

Hospice Wits is appealing for residents to walk for a cause during the 702 Walk the Talk and take part in the Walk for Hospice Wits, which will see money being donated to the the organisation.

Hospice Wits is dedicated to caring for those battling terminal illnesses as well as providing support services for patients and their families. Hospice Wits is a non-profit organisation and, as such, any donation is helpful.

Hospice Wits helps over 180 000 patients and families through home visits, inpatient admissions or psychosocial support annually and aims to help patients live life to the fullest while in the comfort of their own home.

Anyone interested in participating in the 702 Walk the Talk can choose to sponsor Hospice Wits. There is a R250 entry fee, of which R60 will be donated to the organisation, said Godwill Maseko.

He added that sponsors of the NPO will receive a Hospice Wits T-shirt to wear during the walk. Entry will also include a water bottle and a race number. There are 5km, 8km and 15km walks available. Friends and family of those participating in the walk are also encouraged to make a donation to HospiceWits.

The 702 Walk the Talk will take place on 23 July at Marks Park in Emmarentia. It is expected that 50 000 people will participate, and Hospice Wits hopes to have 150 sponsoring them. However, Maseko said that there are currently 15 people sponsoring them.
