Porsche owners display their cars at annual Concours event in Johannesburg

JOBURG – Porsche Club South Africa Central had an excellent turnout and sunny weather at its annual Porsche Concours.

 

The annual Porsche Concours 2017 was held on 20 May at the Johannesburg Country Club in Auckland Park.

The event gathered Porsche owners and car enthusiasts who shared their adoration and fascination for all things Porsche. Porsche Johannesburg and Pretoria were also present at the event. Welcoming the guests was Albert Du Bois, president of the Porsche Club South Africa Central.

“We were delighted to have this prestigious event return once again,” said Du Bois.

“Events likes these provide members of the public the opportunity to experience the beauty of Porsche and the passion displayed by South African enthusiasts.”

The highly anticipated activity of the day saw car owner’s display and polish, vintage and latest Porsche models, to compete in different categories.

The most sought after prize of the day was a set of Pirelli tyres which were donated by the winner for auction at the event, with the money raised for a charity of his choice.

Trophies were awarded to proud owners of beautifully cared for cars which included vintage and latest models ranging from 1964 to 2017. The overall Porsche Concours 2017 winner was the 933 Carrera.

“There was plenty of fun had, as dozens of vintage and high-performance models were on display throughout the day,” said Du Bois.

Event sponsors included local and international brands such as Sela Brokers, Pirelli, ExxonMobil and Centlube, the authorised distributor for ExxonMobil lubricant products in South Africa. Porsche Centre Johannesburg and Porsche Centre Pretoria also exhibited their latest models. ExxonMobil is one of Porsches’ closest and most important cooperation partners, not only in motorsport but also in the development of its production engines.

Since 1996, when the relationship began, Porsche and ExxonMobil have shared a commitment to research, development and advanced technology. Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil has facilitated four generations of the iconic Porsche 911, as well as the introduction of the Cayenne, Panamera, and Macan models.
