True Combat Boxing Club in Glenhazel is offering kickboxing classes to women

GLENHAZEL – Muay Thai is an incredibly fighting art to get you fit.

True Combat Boxing Club in Glenhazel is offering kickboxing classes to women to help them keep fit and also to equip them with defence techniques in times of need.

Ronen Shapiro, fighter and the club’s owner, said they have about 86 ladies in the classes and some doing private sessions.

Shapiro added that the club also offers training in boxing and Muay Thai as well as weight and fitness training.

“Muay Thai is Thai kickboxing which practitioners learn to use punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes.

He said Muay Thai was an incredibly effective fighting art and it gets practitioners very fit. “Since focusing a lot of classes on fitness and fighting we have more women in the gym than men,” added Shapiro. “They are fit, strong and have had great success in losing weight and toning their bodies.

“The added bonus, of course, is that everyone can learn to defend themselves effectively whilst having a fun workout.”

Shapiro said in the past the club had a few women competitors but over the past year he had changed the focus of the gym to be less competition based and more to help reach his clients’ goals.

Anyone from the age of three upwards can join the gym and can contact Shapiro to arrange a free trial session.
