67 minutes of yoga
JOBURG - Yoga Works Organisation hosted yoga event at Constitutional Hill to raise funds and collect donations for a good cause.
The Yoga Works Organisation pledged their 67 Minutes for Mandela Day by hosting a yoga event to raise funds and collect donations for a good cause.
The event took place in Freedom Square at Constitutional Hill. During the event, the instructor guided those in attendance through 27 very unique poses to honour the great courage of Nelson Mandela. The fun poses included names such as Hero Pose, Humble Warrior Pose, Mountain Pose, Fierce Pose and many more.
This year, more than 200 yogis raised R12 000 to support Lefika la Phodiso: The Art Therapy Centre. The organisation uses art and play therapy to help those affected by traumatic experiences. The Yoga Works Organisation also invited 50 of the centre’s young clients to participate in the event.
The yoga session was followed by a guided tour around Constitutional Hill.
The yoga session was R100 per person, and people could choose to sponsor a Lefika child for R50. Those who wished to go on a guided tour, Walk with Madiba, of the venue paid an additional R100 towards the fundraising initiative.
People brought clothes, toys, books, blankets, cans of food and many other useful products that they were happy to give away.\
