Children from Johannesburg Children’s Home enjoy fun-filled afternoon at Snow World
KILLARNEY – The children, who had received the most merits, were treated to an afternoon of snow tubing.
A total of 20 children from Johannesburg Children’s Home were rewarded with an afternoon of fun at Snow World in Killarney Mall.
The children were awarded merits based on good marks and involvement in school activities and the children with the highest merits spent their afternoon at Snow World.
Evodia Mohlakoane from the home said, “The children really work hard at school and we are really happy with them. They’ve been attending extra murals and doing all their homework.
“The children are so excited, they were even wowed because it was something they really weren’t expecting. They’re so excited to be snow tubing, they can’t stop going down the slide.”
Snow World also features little Alpine huts where the children got warm drinks and had their faces painted.
The children also had the opportunity to ride on electronic dinosaurs which move and visit the Ice Age exhibition which features large moving animals. The exhibit also provides an educational element by providing lots of information for the children.
Mark Wilson, the owner of Snow World said they typically make about eight tonnes of snow a day for the activation.
”The snow is really great for the kids to play with, for making snow castles and snowmen. We’ve also got our ramp which is really thrilling and the colder it gets the faster you go so it’s really fast at the moment,” said Wilson.
Charlé Gerber, the marketing manager for Killarney Mall, said they love giving back to the community and paid for the tickets for the children and also provided lunch and goodie bags so they could enjoy a fun-filled afternoon to reward them for their efforts.
