Potential jobs for matrics
JOBURG – Matriculants who might not have an opportunity to further their studies have a chance with Harambee.
Harambee congratulates matriculants who have done well in their 2017 academic year and say more opportunities are available for them.
Harambee is a youth employment accelerator and a non-profit organisation that connects employers looking for entry-level talent to young, high-potential work seekers who are currently locked out of the formal economy.

Andy Berelowitz, a communications officer at Harambee’s national office, said Harambee is 100 per cent free for all those who have passed matric and who meet the qualifying criteria.
According to Berelowitz, candidates must be between 18 to 34 years old with a valid SA ID but must not have been employed in one job for more than a year, and have no criminal record.
She congratulated the class of 2017 saying those who might not have an opportunity to further their studies, Harambee has great opportunities for them. “If you are not planning on studying further and are looking for a work opportunity, make sure you register with Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator at www.harambee.mobi,” said Berelowitz.
“Harambee connects young people looking for their first job with employers looking for entry-level staff. Harambee assesses your skills and strengths and matches you to an opportunity where you are most likely to succeed.”
They have placed over 45 000 candidates into jobs in restaurants, hotels, call centres, as drivers, in building and construction and many others, she said.
Started in 2011, the communications officer said Harambee recruits candidates in places where existing corporate networks don’t reach, assesses their competencies and matches them with jobs where they are most likely to succeed.
She said Harambee then delivers high-quality work readiness programmes to the candidates that directly address the risks identified by employers in taking on first-time workers.
“Our sourcing includes young people with disabilities. Harambee also services the small medium enterprises sector, offering highly subsidised matching fees, post-placement support and a knowledge centre with a collection of valuable human resource and policy and procedure templates to assist in all areas of people management,” said Berelowitz.
