Suspect sentenced to 46 years

REMBRANDT PARK – Following an investigation by the Sandringham police, a 29-year-old suspect was sentenced to 46 years in prison.

 

The Sandringham police are happy following the conviction of a 29-year-old man, who was sentenced to 46 years in prison at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court, for various crimes.

The man was arrested on 19 October last year in an open field in Rembrandt Park linked to two armed robberies in the area. A spokesperson for the Sandringham police, Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo said that following the robberies, a community member tipped off the police who promptly arrested the perpetrator for the two armed robberies.

The suspect received an additional charge for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Following the investigation, he was then sentenced to 46 years in prison.

Station Commander at the Sandringham Police Station, Colonel Lindelani Ndlovu congratulated the arresting officers and commended the work of investigating officer, Detective Hosani Mashaba.
