JOBURG – Trio makes history with Glamour’s September issue.
Since the beginning of August trailblazing women have been the order of the day and by the looks of things, it seems that they won’t let up. Glamour magazine’s latest issue sheds light on the women making power moves in their respective industries and the latest cover stars shed light on the new, now and next women reshaping their industries and rewriting the rules.
Sharing the cover with equally amazing women is rapper Nadia Nakai who made history by being the first rapper featured on the beauty magazine’s cover. She shares the cover with Thando Hopa, an activist, lawyer and model, as well as Glamour magazine’s new editor-in-chief, Asanda Sizani.
“I understand the significance of this moment, being the first black editor-in-chief of this international brand. I have a responsibility as the first black editor to make a positive impact. To be someone that will hopefully inspire black and brown girls and boys out there, from different backgrounds who had to fight to get their voices, heard in creative industries and to create platforms to open doors of opportunity for other people,” Sizani said.
Known for her fierce activism and all-around respected character, Hopa said she has seen many black women on the pages of Glamour, but never a black woman that looks like her.
The latest issue of Glamour embodies women empowerment in the most glamorous and sophisticated way.
“Behind every successful woman, is a tribe of women ready to support you,” Nakai said.
