WATCH: District Street Festival coming to Newtown

JOBURG – Urban festival seeks to create an inclusive platform for various cultures and backgrounds.

#District, a global street festival to be held in Newtown from 13 – 14 October 2018, is the culmination of world genre music, art, food, photography and theatre with a strong focus on sustainable events.

This urban festival aims to create a festival platform that cultivates synergy between various cultures, backgrounds, and demographics in a clean, safe and inclusive environment.

The festival’s unique and eclectic musical programme fuses world beats, pop, rock, soul, and electronica with artists from India, Ireland, Brazil, Paris, Ghana, Mozambique alongside some of South Africa’s best for an equally eclectic audience keen to explore musical adventures with like-minded people.

The festival is committed to assist in tackling issues such as recycling, safety as well as infrastructure challenges within Newtown’s precinct as well as incorporating all businesses in the event footprint with support offered in programming for the festival and ultimately transforming Newtown into a walking #District for two days, throwing open all doors to the public.
