2018 was a busy year for news and Rosebank Killarney Gazette readers had their fair share of crimes, municipal issues, entertainment galore and feel-good stories.

Let’s take a step back in time and revisit the top 3 stories:

1. 10 things you need to know about the #SAFTUstrike tomorrow

   

   The South African Police Service and all law enforcement agents will be working double time during the nationwide strike on 25 April. South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) and affiliated unions will institute a shutdown of all public transport services around the country in protest against the minimum wage hourly rate.

2. Gugu Gumede spills the beans

   

   In an exclusive interview, held at Crowne Plaza in Rosebank, Gugu Gumede highlighted how her love and passion for acting emerged at the age of nine and ‘spoke it into existence’ when she told a friend that she wants to be an actor for a living.

   Currently starring in one of South Africa’s popular telenovelas Uzalo as Ma’Mlambo, Gumede will forever be grateful to the soapy Generations for giving her exposure back in 2014.

3. Shooting incident on M1 near Glenhove offramp

   

   Saps provincial spokesperson Captain Mavila Masondo stated that two suspects shot the victim eight times while he was in his vehicle.

   He added that the victim was of Pakistan or Indian descent.

   No suspects have been arrested and police are still unsure as to what the motive was.
