Women’s International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) Johannesburg help turn lives around
RAEDENE – This organisation strives to see a better life for disabled people at Sithandiwe Disabled Care Centre in Lombardy East.
Dedicated to social welfare for women and children is a top priority for Women’s International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) Johannesburg based in Raedene.
The volunteer organisation, in partnership with Magimix, have recently been making a difference in the lives of the children and caregivers at Sithandiwe Disabled Care Centre in Lombardy East.
Helen Keller, chairperson of the organisation said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. When we work together on a common goal, we can achieve things beyond our wildest dreams.”
Keller explained that they were grateful to Magimix for partnering with them to make a difference in the lives of the children and caregivers of the disabled care centre.
“After the organisation hosted a Christmas party at the care centre last December, they discovered that the kitchen staff needed assistance with preparing food for the children who have special dietary requirements. The generous donation of a Magimix food processor will be put to good use, improving the quality of life of the children in immeasurable ways,” Keller said.
Former chairperson of the organisation, Lee Joffe explained that fundraising has been quite a challenge last year and was accepting monetary donations to help fund the organisation. “We accept money donations and people wish to donate can call contact us on 011 645 2515 and we will advise accordingly. Alternatively, we have second-hand shops in Raedene where people can drop off their second-hand clothes which will then be sold as all proceeds go to funding the organisation.”
The disable care centre provides care, support and community development services for disabled children. They run a day care facility for children with disabilities from two to 18 years of age.
