Dark Disco presents Jazzuelle’s 30th birthday tour featuring Vinny Da Vinci, Da Capo, Okmalumkat, Kat La Kat and more across some of Joburg’s premium venues. Entry is free before 9pm and then R50 thereafter.
2 February: Cotton Fest
Riky Rick’s first-ever Cotton Fest features a full local line-up that is set to grace The Station in Newtown on 2 February. The fest was mainly created to showcase the diversities while fusing the gaps within the various hip-hop sounds and local movements and will not only bring together and unite over 80 unique acts divided over two stages, but will also celebrate fashion in its various forms and spheres. 2 February: The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour
Grammy Award-winning songstress Lauryn Hill has added a Joburg date to her newly announced world tour, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour. The world tour celebrates 20 years of her classic debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill which has spawned timeless singles such as Doo Wop (That Thing), Everything is Everything and Ex-Factor. Hill is slated to perform in Joburg at the Ticketpro Dome and has added legendary rapper Nas as a special guest.
3 February: Open Studio Vibes at Victoria Yards
Usher in the Month of Love at the Open Studio Vibes in Victoria Yards on 3 February. Part of Victoria Yards’ First Sunday series, Open Studios is an opportunity to discover a space in progress as the venue works towards their official spring opening. It is also an opportunity to visit the artists’ and artisans’ workspaces and studios to see how art works and the beauty behind their process.
3 February: Aunty Merle the Musical
Having drawn inspiration from his own mother for this character over 20 years ago, Marc Lottering brings to life his most beloved alter ego, Aunty Merle Abrahams, for the first time on a Johannesburg stage. Hailing from Belgravia Road in Athlone, Aunty Merle sashays onto the stage at the Mandela at Joburg Theatre from 1 February to 3 March for a limited season run.
