Facebook ranked the biggest social media platform in SA

At this point in time, it is no secret that we live in a fully digital and connected world. We’re always glued to our phone screens spending unimaginable amounts of money on data and applications on digital stores. We Are Social and Hootsuite published their annual Global Digital Yearbook for 2019 In light of the digital age that we live in.
Showing the state of the internet across countries, the report looks at the global internet landscape and draws on data from a number of sources. The study found that 31 million people are online in South Africa putting the overall Internet penetration rate at 54 per cent.
The study further found that the country has seen a growth in social media activity and reported a five million user increase in active social media users. Facebook was positioned as the biggest social media platform in the country with a penetration rate of 53 per cent. LinkedIn had a rate of 18 per cent while Instagram had 9 per cent and Twitter raked in 4 per cent while Snapchat sat on 3 per cent.
