WATCH: Donate blood and share the love this Valentine’s Day

CRAIGHALL PARK – Donors will receive Valentine's Day gifts when they donate at the centre.

As people show love to those they care about this Valentine’s Day, the South African National Blood Service (Sanbs) encourages community members to spread the love by donating blood.

Clinic supervisor at the Colony Donor Centre in Craighall Park Sihle Ngcobo said, “It is lover’s day, come and share the love and donate blood. Our stocks are low at the moment so donating blood will make a huge difference.”

Estate agent Carmen Weiss of Gaylin Estates said she decided to heed the call of Bond Gallery to donate blood because she could receive Continued Professional Development (CPD) points.

“My daughter once urgently needed blood and it was donations from the community that made all the difference. I feel indebted to the people at Sanbs for helping her,” said Weiss.

Leigh Hind who also donated blood at the centre said, “I know they run low frequently and I keep forgetting how often I can come and donate. I am here to make a small difference.”

The Colony Donor Centre is open daily until 4.30pm for donations.
